East Kent Branch of
     ‘The Embroiderers’ Guild

Welcome to the East Kent Branch!

Formed in 1970, the branch has a membership of around 100, covering the county from the Isle of Sheppey to Romney Marsh and from Thanet to Maidstone.

We meet on the third Saturday of each month at 2.15 p.m. at The Lower Hardres and Nackington Village Hall, Street End, Lower Hardres, Canterbury, CT4 5NP,  just off the B2068 from Canterbury, by the Granville pub.

Welcome to

      our website

The Programme includes speakers on a variety of traditional and contemporary textile subjects, day schools with professional tutors and workshop-type meetings taught by some of our own members.  Also available at every meeting is the ever-popular bring-and-buy table.  Members enthusiastically attend the Bring and Share lunch which always precedes our Annual General Meeting in October making this an enjoyable social event.

Each month we hold  popular informal stitching sessions from 10 am to 12 noon, where one of our experienced members will demonstrate specific stitches or techniques  and is on hand to offer advice if needed.  There is a small additional charge for these sessions.

Our annual residential Members’ weekend is always well supported. Held in Folkestone each spring with well-known tutors of both machine and hand embroidery, it is advisable to book early!

Whatever your level of expertise, if you have a love of, or an interest in stitchery of any kind we would be delighted to welcome you to our Branch and hope that you enjoy being a member of our friendly group and joining in with our activities.
